What the gum is used for
Guar gum is the ground endosperm of the guar seed, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba. It is a galactomannan. In water it builds viscosity quickly, which is why the same powder serves a dairy plant and a drilling-fluid blender.
Food
Thickener and stabiliser in ice cream, sauces, bakery, beverages, and processed foods.
Oilfield
Viscosifier in water-based drilling and fracturing fluids, including fast-hydration grades.
Textile & paper
Sizing, printing pastes, and surface strength, where a clean natural gum is preferred.
Pharma & personal care
Binder and thickener in tablets, syrups, and cosmetic gels, against a lot-wise COA.
